Parish Pastoral Council

Parish Pastoral Council

The current Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) of Our Lady Help of Christians was elected in September 2019, and instituted in early October. The PPC is a leadership body within the parish whose role is to develop and implement a mission-focused pastoral plan for the parish. As servants to the wider community, the PPC provides parishioners with forums for consultation and reflection on the mission of the Church in the local neighbourhood and the world. The PPC develops pastoral plans, based on the insight of the community, to enable the faith community to continue to live out the mission of the Gospel. It then calls forth leaders from the parish to implement and achieve the goals of the pastoral plan. A Pastoral Plan outlines the mission, priorities, goals and strategies of the Parish for the period decided upon by the PPC.

The current PPC has committed to continuing the work of the previous group, with a focus on implementation of activities in support of the Mission Statement which is encapsulated as:

Our Lady Help of Christian’s Parish is A LOVING CHRIST-CENTRED COMMUNITY SERVING ALL in which:

  • We reach out to all in an atmosphere of unconditional love
  • We strive to live our lives in keeping with the teachings of Christ
  • We are willing instruments in the work Jesus started while on earth
  • We serve and support, through many ministries, all who come to us
  • We respect our Youth and their opinions and strive to make the community a fun-filled environment in which they can grow. We preserve the environment as our sacred responsibility

We give effect to this vision by implementing programmes and activities which fall under four pillars:

Faith Formation of the community

Development and empowering of Young People

Community Empowerment and support

Community Finances in order to enable the growth of the parish
